Calendar

Spring is here and we’re ready for the good weather and fly-in season. We’ve got lots of exciting events and new additions over the coming months, including the introduction of our fuel station and the arrival of our newly acquired 1937 clipped-wing Monocoupe 110 Spirit of Dynamite! Then of course there is annual North Cascades Vintage Fly-In which will be held July 25-27 this year (with Saturday being the main day). Also in July we’ll be at the Arlington Fly-In, July 10-12.

Below is our list of dates and themes we’re planning. The themes are simply our way to encourage various airplane types to make the trip, but as is the case with all of our fly-ins, everybody and airplanes of all kinds are welcome.

We’re still putting together the details on some of these, so keep checking back here and/or on the blog which we’re in the process of updating, to find out more info.

Here is the schedule events for 3W5 (all flight dates and times are estimated and weather & mechanical condition dependent):

May 12, 2014 – Fueling Station Equipment delivery

Our much anticipated fuel station is expected to be up and running the following week.

May 24 – 31, 2014 – Journey to pick up the 1937 clip wing Monocoupe 110 Special “Spirit of Dynamite”

NCVAM Director of Operations, Jim Jenkins and technician and navigator Brian White are planning, weather provided, to leave on May 24th for Pittsburgh to pick up The Spirit of Dynamite and begin flying it back to Concrete on May 25th with planned arrival on May 31st.  We plan to cover the trip with video and blog post updates along the way and we’ll be posting a video shortly to our YouTube channel soon so you can learn more about this historic trip!

June 22, 2014 – Ludtkes & Monocoupes Reunion BBQ!

With the safe return of the 1937 clip wing Monocoupe 110 Special “Spirit of Dynamite” to its home, we are celebrating on Sunday June 22nd from noon to 4pm with a barbecue reuniting Fred Ludtke and his family with both the NC2064 and our project plane, the long wing Monocoupe 90AW NC18166. June 20 – 22, 2014 – Bi-plane Weekend at Historic Flight Foundation

We’ve been invited to the John Sessions’ Historic Flight Foundation’s Vintage Aircraft Fly-in June 20-22 at Paine Field (PAE) in Everett! This is the location of the Boeing wide body plant and Paul Allen’s Heritage Flight Collection. We plan to have our WACO INF at the event which will also feature the B-29 “FIFI”, the only of its kind out of the 8,000 built during WWII still flying. Learn more about the Historic Flight Foundation at KILO-7 here and see a full calendar of HFF 2014 events here.

July 10 – 12, 2014 – Arlington Fly-in

Just a few weeks before our big annual fly-in at Concrete (3W5) we’ll be featuring several of our planes at the Arlington Fly-In including our newly arrived clipped-wing Monocoupe, the Culver V, Fairchild 22 and Pat Donovan’s 1938 Lockheed 12A.

July 25 – 27, 2014 – Concrete North Cascades Vintage Fly-In

The Concrete North Cascades Vintage Fly-In (formerly known as the Concrete Old Fashioned Fly-In) will be taking place July 25-27 this year. We have some  special aircraft already scheduled to attend. Early arrivals will fly in on Friday, with breakfast on Saturday morning from 7-11am kicking off the festivities for the weekend.

Everybody is invited to this annual event at the Concrete Airport. And of course we especially encourage those of you interested in flying in with your vintage and antique aircraft. Please contact us with any questions regarding the fly-in.

Since this is the First Fly-in here at Concrete to have onsite fuel available, NCVAM active members will be able to top off their tanks at our NCVAM special members’ rate from our newly installed NCVAM fuel station.

We are putting together plans for some other flying activities open to all pilots, and will fill you in as soon as we work out the details. Pictures and details from the 2010 fly-in can be seen here, and the 2009 fly-in can be seen here as well as one image at the bottom of this page.
